Newsletter, December 2009

Dear Madam, Sir,

Looking back at 2009, we can safely say it has been a challenging year, not just for us, but for most organizations. When the global downturn emerged in full in the first half year, the outlook was gloomy. After the summer MeyerMonitor, luckily, saw signs of returning optimism and a growing number of projects. Working almost entirely online proved to be perfect in these cost-conscience times. Instead of travelling across the globe, Boards now enter the virtual arena to reach out to the employees more and more.

Although economists differ in their expectations for 2010, we are confident that we will continue to grow our business. More importantly, we will continue to develop our online research and communication services to meet the new and ever more challenging demands our customers have.

We wish you and your family a great Christmas and the very best for 2010, and we hope to meet you again in the near future. We always welcome the opportunity to share ideas on how to improve the strategic capability of your organization and the ongoing dialogue between management and employees.

Kind regards,

The MeyerMonitor Team,

NEW PROJECTS AND UPDATES

Smit Internationale provides clarity to employees on intended merger through a Structured Chat

Following the announcement of the intended merger between Royal Boskalis Westminster NV (Boskalis) and Smit Internationale NV (Smit), the Smit leadership deemed it imperative to establish proper two-way communication between itself and the Smit employees. An important element in this communication program was a 1.5 hour online Questions & Answers session with CEO Ben Vree, the Stratcom members and the rest of the organization. All Smit employees were invited to join this session, questions could be asked in both English and Dutch. On Monday 16 November about 150 people from all over the world accepted the invitation and quizzed the leadership on topics such as the background of the merger, the future of Smit, and the consequences for the Terminals Division and for employment opportunities in general. 90% of all participants found the Q&A session useful and the same percentage would like to communicate this way again.

MeyerMonitor managed the invitation process and the set up, hosted the chat / Q&A platform, prepared and moderated the session itself and provided the full transcript of all questions and answers that were given during the session. For more information on the possibilities please contact Michel Janssen or call us at +31 (0)20 3050133.

IBM Benelux Employee Inclusiveness Survey

September 2009 MeyerMonitor supported IBM in the execution of the IBM Benelux Employee Inclusiveness Survey. This survey is based on MeyerMonitor's Diversity and Inclusion Monitor. Almost 8000 IBM Benelux employees were invited to take part in this survey.

Results were handed out to the IBM D&I team in October. The D&I team is now discussing and interpreting the results and creating actions to fit in to the D&I program of 2010.

The Diversity and Inclusion Monitor analyses the company culture on several hierarchical levels, provides insight in level of inclusiveness within the organization and shows what barriers the culture holds in the entry, commitment and development of employees.

KPN: Virtual Tour of the Board

KPN was looking for an innovative and cost-effective way to put the Board of Management in direct contact with the entire organization. MeyerMonitor set up a series of online structured chats with the Top 600 to discuss KPN's strategic challenges (September 2009). These chats were followed by a two-day online event in which all employees were offered a chance to discuss every aspect of the business with each other and with the Board of Management (October 2009). The result encompasses hundreds of pages with thousands of contributions offering an in-depth view of the organization, which will support the future strategic agenda.

MeyerMonitor supported the daily project management and communication, and was responsible for the online technology, output analysis and guidance of the Board of Management. We built a custom platform for the two-day forum discussion, which enabled continuous discussions and, at the same time, intense live chats on a range of strategic topics, e.g. beating the competition, diversity, and innovation.
