PhD thesis proves a direct relationship between MeyerMonitor's MM Gap-Index™ and financial performance

On March 18th Bart Eikelenboom successfully defended his PhD thesis at Nyenrode Business University. The thesis is called “The power of organizational capabilities: The influence of organizational architecture on strategic performance of business units in Dutch headquartered multinationals”. In this dissertation he proves the existence of a direct relationship between MeyerMonitor's Gap-Index™ and financial performance.

The thesis addresses a key question in business: do intangible organizational elements affect bottom line performance? It is a hard struggle to assess these elements, the so called organizational capabilities, but due to web-based technology, serious progress has been made. Empirical data, provided by MeyerMonitor, from a sample of large Dutch headquartered multinationals demonstrated significant and positive relationships between the state of organizational capabilities and the financial performance of business units. The results indicate that improvement of multinationals' organizational capabilities create leverage for increased performance, that otherwise would have been left on the table.
